A level 2 autonomous robot for carrying your things.
Our goal with rover was to create a robot that would be able to follow you around and carry you things for you – similar to those suitcases that follow you around.
This project started thanks to Felipe Fukunaga, a DHL employee, who suggested to put a team together and compete in the DHL Robotics Challenge. DHL wanted a robot that would help their delivery professionals carry around the packages they had to deliver when they were in areas where a truck could not be used to hold the boxes while avoid having the delivery expert push around the boxes.
After we created a video and published it to the judges we were invited to compete at the next round in Germany. We had to quickly scrap for a crowdfunding campaign which led us to raise enough money to buy two chassis and all the components to make our robot come to life.
We did not meet the date to compete and so we decided to create our own company built around solving the problem of having to carry heavy things. Rover is able to carry 200 pounds. We bought really big motors.
